One reason why I love doing senior sessions is it can be as personalized as the individual would like it to be. Also it can be creative and I like the challenge of working with various lighting conditions. For these photos taken at Hamonasset Beach in Madison, CT we were racing against the setting sun. We started out with plenty of light and got acclimated to the session(because you know you always have to!) Meanwhile the sun was setting at a rapid pace behind us, which was casting it’s orange glow. You know when it’s 5 o’clock in the summer and the sun is still way up in the sky, you think “I have so much time!” Well, if you push it, next thing you know the sun is at the horizon and all the beautiful golden-ness is gone with it. The sky is twilight and you are getting no ambient light whatsoever. We worked quickly and with the help of my subjects mom, I used a speed lite into a shoot through umbrella, in order to light my subject and balance her exposure with the gorgeous sunset sky in the background. In the last 2 you can see the twilight sky, peeking through.
Thanks for stopping by!
